Good day and welcome to the October 2024 New Music Mix Tape. I’m your host DJ Ponyboy and I’m here to share with you all the very best music from the previous month, right here on KMTJ-DB – Your Mix Tape Journey – Denver, Colorado.
Thank you so much for joining me today and the first Sunday of every month for my New Music Mix Tape; as always, I dare you to listen to one of my new music mix tapes beginning-to-end and then tell me there is no good new music.
Keep listening to hear brand new music channeling the oldies of the 1960’s, classic rock of the 70’s and 80’s, and even some nods to the Beatles and boy bands of the 1990’s.
First though, enjoy Charli xcx and Ariana Grande with “Sympathy is a Knife Featuring Ariana Grande”.
Charli xcx is touring, but will not be performing in the US; Ariana Grande is currently not touring.
One artist who will be coming to Colorado is the “Queen of R&B”, the one and only Mary J. Blige; get your tickets for her upcoming show at Ball Arena February 25th, 2025.
Here is her newest release, “You Ain’t the Only One” on KMTJ-DB, Denver.
19-year-old Xavi is a new regional Mexican artist who has been playing guitar since the age of ten, sharing with us here the pain of young heartbreak and the desire to move on, in “Next”.
Lil Durk, a rapper from Southside Chicago, with “Monitoring Me”. Regional Mexican artist Xavi before that with “Next”.
While neither of those artists are currently touring, our next artist will be performing at Mission Ballroom here in Denver January 10th.
Do you enjoy the music of the early 1960’s and lament that “the music today” isn’t as good? I give thee San Diego soul band Thee Sacred Souls.
Influenced by gospel, doo-wop, Chicano soul, and oldies music, they have been active since 2019, making amazing music, releasing tracks like this one, their latest, “My Heart is Drowning” on KMTJ-DB – Your Mix Tape Journey – Denver, Colorado.
Thee Sacred Souls at Mission Ballroom in January – get your tickets now. Up next, two of my favourite up-and-coming female rap stars, GloRilla with Sexyy Red and Whatchu Kno About Me”.
GloRilla with Sexyy Red – both touring, but not be coming to Colorado.
Maybe the 60’s weren’t your era and modern rap isn’t your thing. What about the 1970’s? Our next track reminds of Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, or maybe Paul Simon.
Enjoy Eric Church’s new tune, “Darkest Hour (Helene Edit)” on KMTJ-DB, Denver.
“Mi Tormenta” – new Black Keys joint with DannyLux – both artists are performing, but will not be visiting Colorado.
I’m DJ Ponyboy and I dare you to tell me there is no good new music! If you feel like I do, challenge a friend who always complains about the lack of good new music – dare them to listen to one of my new music mix tapes and then try to tell me there is no good new music anymore.
Our next artist will be performing at Mission Ballroom November 30th, 2024. Enjoy LP Giobbi and their collab with Danielle Ponder (check out her solo work for a treat!) on KMTJ-DB, Denver, Colorado.
If you are struggling with addiction or substance abuse, there is no shame in asking for help. But don’t take my word for it; listen to the latest track from one of my favourite new artists and friend of the channel Jelly Roll. Here is “Winning Streak” on KMTJ-DB, Denver.
Jelly Roll with “Winning Streak”. Up next, Gucci Mane and Sexyy Red with “You Don’t Love Me”.
Sexyy Red telling Gucci Mane, “you don’t fuck with me” on KMTJ-DB, Denver, Colorado. Yaasss queen!
Our next tune reminds me of Indiana rock band The Elms; from new country artist, 17-year-old Ty Myers, here is “Ends of the Earth”.
Ty Myers will be performing in Steamboat Springs January 6th – I’m certain it will be well worth the four-hour drive from Denver. 😊
Our next artist reminds me of if the music of Brittany Howard and Alabama Shakes were combined with William Shatner’s spoken word work.
Here is Geordie Greep and “Blues” on KMTJ-DB – Your Mix Tape Journey – Denver, Colorado.
Like our next artist, Geordie Greep is touring, but is not currently coming to Colorado.
I’m DJ Ponyboy and I’m loving the sampled guitar piece featured in the intro of this tune. Maren Morris and “People Still Show Up”.
Fantastic new music from Maren Morris. Are you stuck in a musical rut and wishing you could find new tunes you love? How do you even get started? Well, the easiest way is to tune in to me, DJ Ponyboy, right here on KMTJ-DB, Denver, Colorado every month for the very best of the newest new music.

Up next, British rock band The Wombats with their new introvert anthem, “Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want to Come”.
Paul Cauthen is a new artist to keep your eyes on. A few years ago he released one of my favourite tracks, “Cocaine Country Dancing”. Continuing to keep it fantastic, here is Paul Cauthen and “Lavender Jones” here on KMTJ-DB, Denver.
Do you miss the sounds of the 1970’s? Smooth electric pianos, real live recorded drums, and silky vocals from the likes of Stevie Wonder – what’s not to like?
Continuing to make brand new music in the vein of days gone by, check out the latest track from new British-Sudanese R&B artist Elmiene, “Anyways”.
Mau P with “Merther” – performing at Mission Ballroom November 8th. Elmiene before that with “Anyways”. Up next, American artist and YouTuber Conan Gray with “Holidays” on KMTJ-DB – Your Mix Tape Journey – Denver, Colorado.
Conan Gray is on tour, but currently only in Europe.
I’m DJ Ponyboy – Thank you so much for joining me today for the October 2024 New Music Mix Tape. I hope you have had as much fun as I have had, and hopefully I helped you find one or more new favourite songs.
Closing out today’s mix tape is the newest track from one of my new favourite bands. Part of their allure is their name, and the other is their honest raw chick punk that reminds of Pat Benatar, Letters to Cleo, Joan Jett, Heart, and many other amazing femme artists that make our musical world go ‘round.
Coming to Mission Ballroom March 31st next year, here is Amyl and the Sniffers with “Jerkin’”.
Thank you so much for joining me today; come back next week and every week for more engaging mix tapes right here on KMTJ-DB – Your Mix Tape Journey – Denver, Colorado.
I’m DJ Ponyboy. Until next time, stay gold.
